Wow...that is a lot of money to owe. That is a lousy situation to be in. As long as they can make their monthly payments, at least they're making a bit of a dent.

There are a few nonprofit organizations that might be able to help avoid bankruptcy. They negotiate with the lenders so you can have more time and fewer charges. My parents went through CCCS - Consumer Credit Counseling Services - and they have several offices in Colorado. Look for a debt management system. It helped us a lot, maybe it can help you guys.

And yeah, fuck the health don't-care industry.
