New Year, Same Resolution
Jan. 3rd, 2010 05:31 pmOf course, that particular "resolution" has been attempted...six or seven times in the past? Something like that...
Which is to update more. Or at least do something. Maybe I'll start answering those "LJ prompts" no matter how stupid I find them...
Partly not updating was my way of trying not to be negative, because most of the time when I want to update here it is because of my righteous indignation about something that pissed me off...
Anyway, so something like a 2009 Year in Review:
Loss: Lost a couple relatives, which is very sad. Lost several celebrities, most of which I don't care about (Brittany Murphy took me totally by surprise, though...).
Communication: Didn't keep in touch with most of my friends, and basically the only writing I did was during NaNo (which is, granted nothing to sneeze at but it really puts a damper on the whole "I want to be a writer" thing when I don't write!)
Health: Worked out for a while, then flaked on it. Actually, I did that a couple times over the last year... I have, however, succeeded, if only marginally, in trying to eat better. I try to buy nuts or dried fruit for quick snacks at work, and eating more vegetables and the like. Still like pasta and carbs too much, but baby steps.
Geekery: Got into some new shows, one the passing fancy of Merlin (got over that quick enough, thankfully...) and Criminal Minds which I still love to no end. Generation Kill still has my heart, and I named my new iPod The Iceman after the nicknames of one of the "characters" (he would not approve but I'm amused). Got into an online game that I love and am still going pretty strong on. Usually I lose interest in about a month. But I've been on this one for 8-ish months. I still sort of want to make that horse game of my own, but that goes on the back burner with all of my other "brilliant" ideas...
Career: Still have my library job, thank the gods! I was told that I was too slow in the check-in room and now I'm being told that I'm one of the faster people, so yay progress and concerted effort! I'm part of the trial program of books-by-mail-for-kids and it's going well enough that the higher-ups are making noises about expanding the program and if that happens I'll be marginally in charge-ish... But still can't pay rent + living expenses on it, so I still am looking for another one...
So 2009 is done. Have to learn to write 2010, and I should be good to go.
