I wish I had clever titles...

But I don't.

Got some snow. Not a lot by recent standards, about a foot total accumulation, but it's something. Of course, in most areas around here we still had snow on the ground from the last snows, which is weird. In Colorado, usually we get a snow, and no matter how big within a week it's gone. But this stuff has stuck around to get dirty and icky and crunchy and icy.

Work has been work. There is talk about hiring a new reference person, and since the person leaving the job is a para-professional, rather than a person with a library degree, then the logic to my friend's thinking is that they'll want another para-professional to keep the salary the same.

But I heard two of the supervisors discussing a candidate that had his/her library degree from Denver and had been looking for a library job for five years. So I think they've got the position mostly filled already. I'm going to apply anyway, but I doubt anything will come of it...

Some bad news from friends, some good news possibly pending. Nothing new on my end, except I get to house-sit this weekend.

Anyway, I have to get ready for work. I hope to remember to update again, as soon as I can think of something relevant to say...

How do you keep getting house sitting jobs? I mean, I've gotten one, and it was pretty cool, but they don't all go out of town that often as the kid in the house is in high school and still has to be home for school. I suppose that might change when Eric goes away to college (as I think he is planning to do...), but I don't know that for sure.

Do you have a network going? I ALMOST got another house sitting job from the first one, but then the woman decided to house her animals another way and didn't need me. Great for her, less money involved, and she had to go away for a VERY emotional thing, so one less thing to worry about. And her animals had Fleas...

It seems that the east coast has stolen all of the snow in the land.

*crosses fingers about the reference job*

I do have a network going. It's called parents. I got one of my house-sitting clients from Christina (the woman is a client of hers at the salon), but the other three are friends of mom and dad. For many, many years.

Of course, one of them had neighbor kids to do this for them for years, but now the neighbor kids have all gone away, so they had to find someone else. I'd say advertise at the coffee shop, maybe put up an ad at the grocery store or something. Just let people know you're out there and (more or less) available.
