A Fat Rant. I so adore this video.

And there's two others now by the same person, but one of them bores me. This one is cool, though:

Fat Rant 3: Staircase Wit

In other news...

I have Witchblade! I am a happy happy fangirl.

This series is so awesome. Not too many special features, but I really just wanted the show, anyway.

Hmm...well, today started a string of six days with shifts in a row. Not horrible, of course, since they're only 4-hour shifts, but still. I did feel sorry for a patron today, because he'd returned an item in one of our remote drop boxes and it never got here. And a couple things he returned at the same time did. So, either it got lost somehow, or someone took it. He claims the bin was really full, and he had to cram it in (which of course begs the question of why didn't he just return it in either another bin or at the library rather than cram stuff into the bin, but whatever). And it's still his responsibility until it gets checked in. Sucks for him. But it is only gonna cost him $33 to replace the thing, and it could be a lot worse...

Anyhoo, nothing really special about today, but nothing horrible either.

Oooh, wait, yes there is! I drove by one of the big pastures full of horses today, and I got to see all the babies! There were seven or so babies, all close to the fence. So cute.

It took me a few months to get to where I am. When I started, I'd run half a mile, walk half a mile, run half, and so on until I reached 2 miles in total distance. After a couple of weeks, I moved up to running a mile, walking half, etc.

These days I run 5-6 miles at a stretch, at an average speed of 9-10 mph. It takes a while to get there, but the key is to get started.

Oh, and if shin splints bother you, just do an on-off-on-off schedule. Normally, a 48 hour rest period is sufficient to prevent most injuries. Knees, on the other hand, I can't comment on. If my genetic history holds true, mine will give out when I'm in my 40's, so I'm trying to use 'em while I've got 'em. ;)

Whatever you do, if you decide an exercise regimen is what you want, pick a goal and then make yourself reach it. Having something to aim for will make all the difference, really. You'll be fine--and even if you decide not to, you'll still be fine. It's just a matter of social perception, and you and I both know how silly people in groups can be.

Well, that's something at least. I usually managed to run about 1/8 mile before I was too winded, then walked some. I did one mile, combined running/walking in about 18 minutes. I ran for maybe a cumulative 1/2.

Motivation is my problem. I always lack motivation in the summer. I don't do well in heat, and this has been a record-breaking hot summer. Ick.

Thankfully, I got over the whole "must work out to lose weight" thing a long time ago. Now I have two reasons for wanting to work out regularly: 1) I feel better when I do (and sleep better) and 2) health. I won't deny that I want to look better, but that's also more about attitude, thus the feeling-better feeds into that, and also the health.

...I'm babbling. Done now...
