So it's official. Mom is on a 10:30 flight to Michigan. I'm not going, my sister's not going, as far as I know.

Damn it, I really wanted to go, for any number of reasons.

Stupid fucking airlines and their stupid non-refundable ever tickets. So now, in this great emotional and financial shit-storm, my mom has to eat nearly $800 worth of airline tickets. Fuck you, too, airlines.

See, this is why I like driving. At least you don't have to pay for gas you don't use...

So, my mother's morning:

~ Get little to no sleep (up late working, up until at least two am, up at 5-something)
~ Husband drives you to DIA (Hell on Earth sometimes) for the flight to Milwaukee for the drive to Michigan to see her mother one last time
~ They gets maybe 15-20 miles (of the 60 or so) and her car decides to slow to a crawl, and stop entirely at some points
~ Must call sleeping daughters and ask one or both to come and drive her to DIA
~ Not-sleeping-anymore daughters head out, one in each car, in case the father needs a ride somewhere
~ Have daughter-that-doesn't-seem-to-like-you drive you to the airport, where hopefully you don't miss your flight *crosses fingers for mom*

And now I'm home because Dad had a business meeting in Boulder that his partner picked him up for. And I get to hold down the fort in case he needs me to come pick him up somewhere. Actually, that's what I'd be doing anyway, so I don't actually mind.

Now, in the category of "Little Annoyances" I'll take "Waking up with a sore throat in the midst of a small family emergency" and "One of the cats puked in the middle of the rug" for $600.

Please gods let my mom get on the flight okay. This is hard enough.
