There's nothing really going on in my life either, thus no updates. I have thought that this should be rectified, so I've compiled a list of things to blog about which do not include life-stuff that's not happening.

I've had a very domestic couple of days, which is weird enough for me. I made soup (some broccoli/caluflower/chicken combo thing that came out very tasty once I added in lots of garlic and spices) on Friday. Yesterday I made breakfast (scrambled eggs with califlower and chicken--tasty) did a ton of dishes, refilled the cats food containers.

Then this morning I had the weird idea that I wanted to make banana bread, because we had seven or so bananas that were rapidly turning to mush.

So I got up, fed Nefret, started a load of laundry (long overdue), went upstairs and made banana bread. And I'm going to take it into work, because people are always bringing in stuff and I never have. Plus, there's enough bananas to make another loaf, this time with Splenda and fake eggs so it's "healthier", and so mom can have some.

So...yeah. Oddly domestic.

And I kinda want to start cooking more. My friend Laci at work is really big into cooking, and she expressed an interest in having dinner parties that are sort-of-potluck (ie everyone has a kind of dish assigned and a "theme" because she likes themes) with a couple other people from work. And that sounds like fun, but I don't have a lot of entree stuff that I can make. So I might be haunting allrecipes.com a lot more now.

In other news, I've been doing lots of nothing. I've gone to work, then come home and watched either NCIS (all of those are from the Denver library, yay Prospector!) or back episodes of the Sentinel, which reminds me I still need to borrow the first season (the only one available on DVD) from Caroline. Or maybe I should just buy it myself...

Anyway, totally fell in love with NCIS, so I've been mainlining that every time I get a chance. It plays on TV a lot, but it often plays while I'm working, so I stick with the DVDs. Which is fine. I like DVDs, and it means I'm not trying to compete with my sister for TV time.

Um, yes. So, that's it.

Next time: book recs!

Thank you! The banana bread came out quite nicely, and everyone at work loved it! ...Partly because the girl who's allergic to eggs wasn't there, so she didn't have to miss out. Which reminds me, I need to ask her if I can use fake eggs, or maybe just substitue oil or applesauce or something next time...

And this may surprise you, but you've been more domestic than I have been. I whip up stuff on my George Forman grill and that's about it.

In other news, I finally just finished watching season three of Supernatural. I Netflixed it and now I'm desperate to watch season four. I hate keeping up new, weekly series, but now I'm converted, if only I can catch up. Thank you for turning me onto this show.

That's cool. I stopped watching the show during the third season. Total angst fest and I'm just not into that. When Kripke actually fixes the shit he's putting the characters through and starts writing actual plot again, I'll watch.

Everything I've heard about the show aggravates the hell outta me. I saw nothing wrong with the monster-of-the-week format and the occasional over-arcing plot. But now it seems to be about how far down we can send the characters, and I don't like that.

...sorry, that turned into a rant. Didn't mean it to. I am glad you're enjoying it, though! That means that the show will stay on the air long enough to fix itself, I hope!

I've wanted to cook a lot lately. I think it comes from watching too much Alton Brown on the Food Network. But he makes it look so easy. I couldn't even sweat an onion if I jogged it for an hour.

I have no idea what prompted the urge. Possibly it was trying not to waste any more food, because we had to throw out some very brown avocados the other day and I felt bad wasting them. I could blame it on starting to listen to Agnes and the Hitman, because the female lead in that book loves to cook and is constantly making yummy-sounding things. But I didn't start listening to it until after my domestic-streak started.

...I have no idea what "sweat[ing] an onion" means... But the line made me laugh.
