And by "points-ish" I mean they are almost points of interest.

  • I still love working at the library, if only for the perks of having lots of reasons to be there and get books out. I have ten+ books out on the silk road right now because of fannish stuff. But it's interesting fannish stuff!

  • I have brand new tires on Hermes! I was driving out north of town (in the even-more-boondock-than-my-neighborhood areas) with Erin and all of a sudden the front passenger tire just blew. So we changed it and I noticed the tire was practically worn down. No wonder the poor thing blew. But now I have brand spanking new tires (last time I got new tires was before I went to Michigan for my first year at NMU) and they're very fun.

  • Buster (the puppy) is adorable and cute, and my parents are still working on paper training him. Which is entertaining as all get out, because he's the one animal I feel no obligation to pick up after. I do get to play with him, though! Yeah, we no longer think he's a Pomeranian mix. We're pretty sure he's a Chow mix of some kind, only hopefully he'll stay a small-ish dog.

  • I need to fill out the application for Albertsons, since some of the employees there said they just got out of a hiring freeze. Another job and a discount on groceries? Sounds good to me.

  • There is stupidly good weather here. It's 60 flipping degrees outside! It's MARCH! It should not be 60 degrees in MARCH in COLORADO! We better get at least one more good storm, that's all I can say.

  • I did register for Sirens. I did it with some of the tax money, which is now way past gone. I don't know if I'm going to get to go or not, because a lot can happen in between then and now. But the hotel it's in would cost $109 for a double (and I'm pretty sure Erin is going to register too... I better call her again...) or $134 for a triple/quad if I can find more.

But, get this! They're going to have weapon and martial arts demonstrations! It's not all going to be networking and academic talk! Probably demonstrations and bookselling out the wazoo! I hope, I hope, I hope I get to go...

  • Dude! This is, like, the weirdest thing I've heard, but I'm getting a new credit card with a $7,000 limit! (I know, I know, I'm not going to be irresponsible with it, but it's a huge relief to have that in case I need a new car or an emergency health thing, or whatever. And I get $50 cash back (or 5000 points) with the first purchase. Now I can't decide what to buy with it for a one-time purchase. But being approved for that just improved my credit score by a lot, I'm pretty sure. Because my debt/credit ratio was $536/$900 and now it's $536/$7900.

*sigh* Okay, I have to go get ready for work. I hate shelving...

That is one adorable puppy! How does he get along with your kitty?

I'm really jealous of your awesome credit card. Does it have hidden annual fees/activation fees? What's the APR? Which company is it through? I only have a $500 limit on my crappy card...

Call the number on the back of the card and ask for a limit increase. If you've been good about making the payments, that shouldn't be a problem. I got mine increases by 1000 bucks last month.

With Nefret he gets along fine. With the other cats...well, they don't just run away from him anymore. Mostly they hiss and run away now. But he and Nefret play together.

Nope. No annual fee or activation fee. The APR isn't fixed, but right now it's at 13.24%, which is much less than my current card's interest rate. It's through Chase bank, and I've been with them since I started.

I second what Ryan says: give them a call. My limit has gone up twice in the time I've had the card (I want to say about a year, but don't quote me on that as I have no concept of time...). I started at $500, then it went up to $700, and now it's at $900. I don't know if it's because of my on-time payments, or they just wanted to see if they could get more money out of me...

But I know Kathryn has been able to delay being penalized for late payments on her credit cards because she called her credit union. No matter what, on an individual level you're still dealing with people, no matter the conglomeration. Most of them will do a lot to help (I know mine did).

Plus, it's nice to be able to ask all the stupid questions I'm a little embarrassed to have to ask. And they usually know way more about the financial business than you or I can ever hope to...

Wow, long reply...

Okay, but the question of the month is, are you planning to go to Hiawatha, and are you dragging Erin and Christina and Heath with you? Hmmmmm???

My limit is $1,000, and that's where it started. I really want it to go up, but they haven't done it yet, and really, if it goes up, that'll just make it harder for me not to spend it. 'Course, it'll improve my debt/credit ratio, which it what I tell my self I want the increase for. *sigh* I'm a horrible impulse shopper...

Re: Hiawatha. I have no idea. Possibly Erin, but I seriously doubt Christina and Heathe would want to come. It's not really their type of music, though Christina does love Chicks With Swords.

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking about it ahead of time. If I just go out with the intent to buy something, I shudder to think what-all I'll come home with...

*pouts* I'd have to have at least $500 to make Sirens... I'm pretty sure that I can't do that. Hope you have fun, though!!!

Okay, now I'm leaving a third reply because I don't know how to edit the last one...

It would take more like $700-$800 for Sirens... I forgot to factor in hotel... That price is per night, right?

Anyway... a pipe dream...

That price is per night. So $150 plus $179 for the room (that's four nights divided by three). Plus whatever the plane ticket is, plus around a hundred dollars for miscellaneous expenses and/or food (though Erin and I talked about just stocking up on meat and bread and just making sandwiches all weekend).

So, yeah. $700-800 is about right, assuming something like a $300 plane ticket. Dang... *sigh*
